About Our Role
At WGA we have enjoyed an enviable period of sustained growth and development not only within our Engineering and Design teams but also within our Group Services functions. This development has included the implementation of an incredible, high functioning finance team who work closely with delivery and operational leadership teams across all our Regions, led by our CFO.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Financial Controller to join our team, ideally located in our Adelaide office. Reporting directly to the CFO, this pivotal role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function while playing a key role in shaping and executing business-wide initiatives that support growth, strategic direction and strong financial performance.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Financial Controller to join our team, ideally located in our Adelaide office. Reporting directly to the CFO, this pivotal role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function while playing a key role in shaping and executing business-wide initiatives that support growth, strategic direction and strong financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and oversee all aspects of the Finance team including AP/AR/Payroll.
- Prepare and analyse financial forecasts, budgets and long-term financial plans identifying areas for improvement.
- Coordinate the consolidation and delivery of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the Group in compliance with relevant Accounting Standards.
- Ensure all tax obligations are met including R&D, FBT, GST, Income Tax and Transfer Pricing.
- Deliver high-quality financial analysis, insight and recommendations on performance trends, risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, capital investment, and restructuring.
- Coordinate group-level external audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely resolution of audit matters.
- Oversee and contribute to our month-end processes including preparation of Executive Reports and variance analyses.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders including tax advisors, auditors, bankers and accounting specialists.
- Lead finance transformation initiatives including systems upgrades, process reengineering, and shared services.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize working capital and minimise financial risk
- Strong guidance and mentoring of the finance team, supporting professional development and agile careers for our team.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Certified Practicing Accountant, or similar professional institution
- Proven experience (7+ years) in a senior financial management role, preferably in a multi-entity environment
- Experience in the consulting engineering or professional services industry is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and reporting requirements
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- PowerBI experience preferred
- Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting techniques
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
