The Opportunity


WEM Civil has a rewarding opportunity for a Senior Health, Safety, Environment, Quality (HSEQ) Advisor to join the team.


This role is pivotal in shaping WEM Civil's commitment to excellence in HSEQ, ensuring adherence to WHS obligations, environmental and quality standards, and fostering a positive safety culture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the HSEQ Manager and Site Team to deliver WEM’s HSEQ Strategy and foster a strong safety culture
  • Oversee WHSEQ systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, ISO standards, and best practice
  • Develop, review, and maintain policies, procedures, SWMS, JSAs, and risk assessments
  • Lead internal audits, manage external audit preparation, and uphold ISO accreditations
  • Monitor and implement changes to WHSEQ legislation and regulations
  • Manage incident investigations, reporting, close-outs, and corrective actions
  • Analyse and report on safety trends, including LTI/MTI data and key risk areas
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments in collaboration with Site Management
  • Deliver WHSEQ training and site inductions across the business
  • Support tender submissions and project teams with HSEQ planning and documentation
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to build capability and drive positive safety behaviours
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in WHSEQ performance


What We’re Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS
  • Certificate IV in WHS
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment (highly regarded)
  • ISO 45001 Auditor qualification and/or auditing experience (highly regarded)
  • NSW Return to Work Coordinator qualification (highly regarded)
  • Experience in a similar HSEQ role within a high-risk or civil construction environment
  • Strong knowledge of WHS, Environmental, and Quality Systems and relevant legislation
  • Experience writing policies, procedures, and safety documents
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and engage teams
  • Experience supporting tenders and audits for safety
  • Strong planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proactive, analytical, and improvement-focused mindset
  • Construction White Card and current Driver’s Licence (essential)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM/safety systems
