We are going through an exciting period of growth and with that we have a great opportunity for a Project Engineer to join us! This role will see you developing front end engineering solutions and/or delivering detailed designs for substations and lines projects across the Projects portfolio.

You will work with internal stakeholders, and Design and Installation Service Providers to ensure projects are delivered in a cost-efficient way and to high standards of quality.

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH)), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of our Engineering Solutions team within our Distribution line of business.


This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Apply technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
  • Develop scopes, conceptual designs for Customer and Company initiated projects.
  • Provide technical input into staging, constructability, operability and maintainability (COM) and safety in design reviews
  • Identify opportunities to develop new, and update existing engineering standards
  • Contribute to the development of scopes and estimates for Distribution network projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered
  • Contribute to the timely delivery of design projects working closely with internal stakeholders and external Design Service Providers


You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Detailed technical knowledge and understanding of distribution networks including distribution substations and lines (22kV and 66kV).
  • Ability to simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (e.g. summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design)
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with design and construction knowledge
  • Experience working in substation or lines engineering, project delivery and/or design role
  • Substation design experience (Primary &/or Secondary), having worked on Zone-Substation/Terminal station augmentation projects ranging from 22kV and above, highly advantageous
