Role Purpose


At Yarra Trams, our mission is to deliver world-class transport services to our passengers. In this role, you will contribute to this goal by:


  • Efficiently maintaining advanced electrical and electronic systems on the tram fleet by way of onsite technical assistance and on-site diagnosis and repair of electrical and electronic systems defects.
  • Provide technical assistance and on-site diagnosis and repair of electrical and electronic systems defects including final testing of critical equipment prior to installation on tram when necessary.
  • Carry out the final testing of trams upon completion of work at depots, including the preparation of summary reports, completed test procedures and assessment of performance of all relevant staff during the performance of the work.

Responsibilities


  • Work beside the existing Technical Officers to gather knowledge and practice the skills learnt. This may involve field work (in depots and workshop) together with bench work on component repairs
  • Attending to and fixing faults related to electrical and electronic systems on the tram fleet by way of on-site technical assistance and on-site diagnosis and repair of electrical and electronic systems defects
  • Carry out the final testing and commissioning of trams upon completion of work at depots, including the preparation of summary reports, completed test procedures and assessment of performance of all relevant staff during the performance of the work
  • Provide training and on-site advice to depot and workshop staff involved in the inspection of trams for on-site diagnosis and repair of electrical and electronic systems defects
  • In conjunction with the Fleet Performance Engineer, communicate system faults and suggest changes for reliability improvements
  • Aid in the development of procedures and work instructions defining the maintenance and servicing functions.
  • Enter data, appropriate to the work undertaken, into the Maximo production system


Skills/Experience


  • Completed an Advanced Diploma course (Electrical / Electronics) or equivalent
  • Electrical or Electronics trade certificate
  • Current Victorian driving licence
  • Must be qualified, or prepared to qualify to drive all classes of tram
  • Knowledge of Yarra Trams Engineering Management System (EMS)
  • Knowledge and familiarity of RSNL as well as Yarra Trams SMS (Safety Management System).
  • Familiarity of rolling stock standards as they relate to rolling stock electronic systems including EN50153, EN 50155, IEC 60077, IEC 61287, AS 60038, EN 50343, IEC 60034 and IEC 60349 (Desired)
