About The Role
Due to ongoing expansion and regulatory demands, a newly created Compliance & Risk Manager role is being introduced to lead and enhance compliance and risk frameworks across both the payments and collections arms of the business.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this standalone position offers broad scope and autonomy. You’ll be responsible for maintaining AFSL compliance, developing AML/CTF programs, overseeing scheme and merchant risk, and embedding internal controls that support responsible and ethical operations.
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for a seasoned compliance professional looking to take ownership and help shape a mature, future-focused compliance culture.

Key Responsibilities Regulatory & Scheme Compliance
- Ensure compliance with AFSL obligations, ASIC requirements, and licensing standards
- Develop and maintain AML/CTF programs across both payment and debt recovery operations
- Oversee Visa, Mastercard, and Amex scheme compliance and audit activities
- Keep compliance registers, policies, and procedure manuals up to date
- Establish risk frameworks for merchant onboarding and ongoing due diligence (KYC, credit risk, transaction monitoring)
- Lead implementation of internal controls to mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks
- Conduct regular risk assessments across both business units
- Draft and embed policies and procedures to ensure consistent compliance practices
- Prepare reports and insights for executive leadership and external regulators
- Act as the go-to advisor for compliance, risk, data privacy, and ethical conduct
- Support internal education on regulatory obligations and best practices
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance, risk management, or audit
- Strong knowledge of AFSL, AML/CTF, KYC, and payments or debt recovery regulations
- Experience with scheme compliance (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and merchant risk
- Strong policy writing and procedure development skills
- Qualifications in legal, audit, or governance disciplines highly regarded
- Confident working autonomously in a standalone role
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance regulatory integrity and operational needs
- Strong communicator, comfortable influencing stakeholders across multiple teams
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly accountable
