What is the role?

We are looking for an Engineer who will help design, build, and implement scalable, automated, world-class data product solutions and systems. These will make it easier to fulfil customer data requests, create efficiencies by reducing unnecessary manual overhead, mould and shape data products with Product Owners to best showcase the strengths of our data, and deliver via channels that make them easier to consume for both internal teams and external clients. New and complex challenges will lurk around every corner to meet the unique and niche demands of our customers, and many of them will likely share the same common threads. You’ll be integral in a team of highly skilled analysts and internal collaborators tackling these problems synergistically and applying intelligent solutions that aim to solve the problems at scale

What will you be doing?

Your role will be technically driven and focused on meeting the demands of the end data consumer, both internal and external, while also optimising processes and solutions to be highly efficient and scalable. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing scalable, parameterised, and automated bulk data product code base solutions & systems
  • Building automated monitoring systems and alerting tools and providing support of existing production processes
  • Designing, building, and delivering automated custom data product and reporting solutions for internal and external clients in an automated methodology
  • Utilising cloud toolsets such as AWS services, GCP big query, Snowflake, Kafka, etc
  • Performing as a subject matter expert on the company’s property data assets
  • Stakeholder engagement of both internal and external customers
  • Ensuring that all data assets, processes, and systems have up-to-date, coherent, and accurate documentation
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field and apply new learnings and innovation opportunities


Job Qualifications:

Are you the right fit?

To be successful in this role the key competencies required include:

  • Intermediate technical querying skills in SQL, Python, JSON essential
  • Ideally this person should have the experience in migration from legacy systems to modern systems.
  • A detailed understanding of data, data structures, and query optimisation
  • Experience in programming and automating solutions essential
  • Experience with version control platforms such as Git, including branching, merging, etc
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, focus on accuracy, and critical 'out-of-the-box' thinking
  • Software development skills and experience will be looked at favourably
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of processes and procedures, and recommend improvements
  • Capability to logically select the optimal solution when presented with multiple options
  • Experience in project management practices and agile sprints (Scrum, Kanban, Jira, etc)
  • Ability to time manage and escalate as needed as part of an agile team as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Delivery oriented and ability to drive towards deadlines and ensuring customer outcomes are delivered
  • Strong inter-personal communication skills and ability to have your message heard and understood­.


What credentials do you need?

  • Bachelors (or higher) degree in computing, mathematics, statistics, or science related disciplines
  • Minimum of 2+ years commercial experience using relevant database systems, coding languages, and software tools, e.g. SQL, Python, data orchestration and automation tools, etc.
  • Additional industry certification, accreditation, or completion of courses on relevant tools, languages, or systems will be looked at favourably
  • Experience in working in a data-lead business or an equivalent department in a larger company.
