About the role
Electrification & Innovation (E&I) is driving Australia's transition to cleaner energy by delivering scalable, sustainable electrification products. We innovate at speed-constantly improving our offerings and turning bold ideas into transformative solutions for the future.
AGL recently acquired Everty, a leading software solution provider that assists businesses and organisation in electrifying fleets and operating EV charging infrastructure. Everty delivers end-to-end EV charging solutions and it this role you are part of a small team with a variety of responsibilities.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you'll primarily work on backend development, with some focus on frontend enhancements. Your responsibilities will include coding, solution design, and contributing to testing, continuous integration, and deployment.
What you'll be doing:
- Build Cutting-Edge Software: Design, code, and deploy robust, modular features and bug fixes using best practices, modern design patterns, and Everty's development standards to deliver high-quality, maintainable software.
- Drive Innovation in EV Charger Integration: Lead hands-on testing and onboarding of new and existing charger models, ensuring seamless integration with the Everty platform and supporting the operations team with up-to-date onboarding processes.
- Engineer Reusable, Scalable Components: Develop modular, reusable software components that support architectural test patterns and accelerate future development across the platform.
- Champion Quality Through Testing: Implement comprehensive unit, integration, and automated UI/API tests to ensure reliability, supporting a test-driven development culture and continuous code excellence.
- Collaborate and Continuously Improve: Work closely within an agile team, contributing to sprints, enhancing documentation, and driving continuous improvements by identifying efficiencies and reusing components where possible.
About you:
- Previous demonstrated experience in a similar role and scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge in NodeJs, JavaScript/Typescript, React for web, React Native for mobile development, Type ORM, PostgreSQL, Expo for mobile apps.
- Familiar with cloud infrastructure concepts and configuration, AWS is highly regarded.
- Experience working with REST APIs (creation and consumption), with knowledge of open protocols like OCPP and OCPI and familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence is also desirable.
- Strong communication skills both technical and non-technical.
