As a Senior Spectrum Planning Engineer within the section, you will apply your engineering capabilities along with an understanding of the broadcasting and radiocommunications environment to a range of projects.
In This Role You Will
- assess technical proposals for modified and new broadcasting services
- Conduct technical assessments to support the consideration of new or modified broadcasting services while ensuring the economic and efficient use of the radiofrequency spectrum.
- Provide technical and regulatory advice related to broadcasting services to internal and external stakeholders including the public, the ACMA executive, other government agencies, and the broadcasting industry.
- Actively work on ways to improve the planning of broadcasting services and the systems used.
- Have opportunities to work across the wider radiocommunications field with the branch and potential for involvement in international regulatory processes.
We Are Seeking An Experienced Radiocommunications Engineer Who
- has good personal communications, engineering, technical, software programming and research skills
- can work as part of a team to solve problems
- Has experience in undertaking technical research including computer-based modelling analysis of broadcasting or other radiocommunications services
- Has high level written and oral communications skills who can engage with and deliver technical advice to a range of internal and external audiences
- Can apply engineering judgement and communications skills to a broad range of technical and regulatory matters and to help deliver high quality, fit for purpose decisions.
- The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
- Have the appropriate engineering qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in communications, electronics, and/or telecommunications engineering. Relevant alternate experience will also be considered.
- Experience in radiocommunications engineering and/or spectrum planning and regulation, particularly in a technical or engineering role.
