About The Role
The Manager – Government Relations plays a critical role in building and maintaining strong, strategic relationships with local, state, and federal government stakeholders. This position is responsible for securing funding, shaping policy initiatives that support the growth of tennis, and collaborating on infrastructure projects that deliver lasting benefits to the sport and the broader community.

About The Role
The Manager – Government Relations plays a critical role in building and maintaining strong, strategic relationships with local, state, and federal government stakeholders. This position is responsible for securing funding, shaping policy initiatives that support the growth of tennis, and collaborating on infrastructure projects that deliver lasting benefits to the sport and the broader community.
In this role you will:
- Lead the development and execution of Tennis Victoria’s government advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic priorities.
- Advocate for funding, policy outcomes, and legislative support that advance priority tennis infrastructure and community development projects across Victoria.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements and timely reporting to government bodies.
- Lead statewide Network Planning by leveraging data and insights to guide the development and delivery of a sustainable tennis network.
- Develop and oversee a performance framework that empowers the Local Government Leads to support councils.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Government Relations, Communications or Public Relations, Sport Management or other relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in government relations, advocacy, or public affairs, ideally within the sport, infrastructure, or community development sectors.
- A proven track record of effective stakeholder engagement, including collaboration with local, state, and federal government entities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- Preparedness to be flexible regarding working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis VIC.
