About the role – Permanent Full Time

The In-House Practitioner plays a key leadership role in providing therapeutic care and a safe, home-like environment for children and young people, in alignment with Baptist Care SA’s practice framework. Based within the residential home, the In-House Practitioner leads, supports, and mentors a team of Child and Youth Support Workers to ensure the daily care and therapeutic needs of each child or young person are met. This role is central to fostering a nurturing, stable environment that promotes healing, development, and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Provide therapeutic care and maintain a safe, supportive, home-like environment for children and young people.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Child and Youth Support Workers to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care.
  • Oversee daily operations, including care planning, rostering, reporting, and ensuring compliance with practice standards.


About you:

You are a calm, caring leader who builds strong, respectful relationships and supports teams through daily challenges. You bring a trauma-informed, child-centred approach and create safe, nurturing spaces where young people feel at home. You’re organised, adaptable, and confident balancing care and operational tasks.

You will also have the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of Cert IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or Disability (in conjunction with relevant experience).
  • Experience working with children and young people with complex needs and trauma backgrounds.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and database management.
