A rewarding opportunity to be part of the Activity Assistant casual relief pool for our Social Centres across the Perth metro area Within this position, you will be responsible to the Centre Co-ordinator to ensure centre based programs and group outings are delivered to clients using a Wellness and Reablement approach. The Activity Assistant carries out various programs to assist clients to engage with their community including providing/co-ordinating client transport as required.
This is role is offered on a casual basis, based at the Central Social Centre in West Perth. Shifts will be between 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver programs, activities and outings for clients ensuring client centred service delivery.
- Assist in meal preparation with clients.
- Undertake efficient and safe client transport using a bus to and from the Centre.
- Maintain a safe environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Bethanie services
About the role
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in a Therapy or Activity Assistant role
- Experience in working with individuals, small and large groups
- Knowledge of Community care or wellness and enablement approaches
- Knowledge of needs of older adults, people with dementia and their carers
- Skills in providing client centred, meaningful activities
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to report on service and client care
- Basic computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group
- Current Police Clearance, or willingness to apply for one
- Willingness to obtain required vaccinations – minimum of one covid vaccination and annual flu vaccination
- Current C class drivers’ licence
- Current First Aid certificate or ability to obtain one within first 3 months of employment
- Ability to demonstrate safe manual handling practices relating to people and tasks.
Desirable Criteria:
- Certificate 3 or 4 Allied Health Assistance or Certificate 3 Aged Care or Individual Support (Aged Care or Home and Community Care)
- Demonstrated knowledge of local community services
- LR Class Drivers licence or willingness to obtain one.
