Your Impact: General Manager, IT (Sydney or Melbourne based)

We’re looking for an accomplished and strategic IT leader to join our senior leadership team as General Manager, IT. This role is responsible for setting and delivering the enterprise-wide centralised IT strategy to support nine director-led business units and our ANZ region support offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Your realm will include digital services, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, service delivery, procurement, and projects.

Reporting into the Chief Performance Officer, you will lead the transformation and maturity of IT services across Transdev ANZ, ensuring our technology platforms and teams are equipped to deliver high-quality services that meet evolving business needs and drive value across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership across all IT functions to align digital, data, infrastructure, and cyber capabilities with business strategy.
  • Lead high-performing teams across Infrastructure & Operations, Service Delivery, Cybersecurity, Data Services, IT Projects, and IT Procurement.
  • Define the IT function’s role, remit, and value-add in collaboration with the Chief Performance Officer, executives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Own and deliver the enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap, ensuring initiatives are business-led, prioritised, and clearly communicated.
  • Oversee secure, scalable, and reliable technology platforms, infrastructure, and core IT services aligned with operational needs.
  • Govern the successful delivery of IT and business projects, ensuring execution quality and long-term business value.
  • Strengthen cyber resilience by embedding capabilities and tools developed by the Cybersecurity function into IT operations.
  • Drive cost-effective and performance-led outcomes through strategic technology procurement and third-party vendor management.
  • Advance service maturity through improved transparency, accountability, and standardisation of processes and service models.
  • Improve enterprise decision-making and agility through data management, enterprise architecture, and knowledge-sharing practices.
  • Embed a culture of performance, accountability, and service excellence within the IT function.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, bridging business and technology needs with clarity and commercial insight.
  • Lead future-focused workforce planning, skills development, and organisational design to ensure long-term capability alignment.

What You Bring

  • Experience & Education: A degree in Information Technology, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent executive leadership experience across IT domains.
  • Executive Leadership: Proven track record leading complex IT teams and transformation programs in large, dynamic organisations.
  • Strategic Vision: Expertise in aligning IT capabilities to strategic priorities, with a focus on enabling value, performance, and future-readiness.
  • Digital & Cyber Expertise: Strong knowledge of modern enterprise architecture, data platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud-first environments.
  • People Leadership: Experience in leading multidisciplinary, high-performing teams, driving alignment, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Commercial Acumen: Capability in managing large budgets, vendor partnerships, and procurement strategies that align with technology and business goals.
  • Don’t tick every box? That’s okay. At Transdev, we believe the right mindset, curiosity, and drive can outweigh a perfect resume. If you’re excited by the role and what we’re building, we’d love to hear from you.
