The role requires a strong background in construction management, property development, or project management
The Assistant Development Manager will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards
As an Assistant Development Manager, you will play a key role in supporting Development Managers and overseeing a diverse portfolio of property projects, from large-scale developments valued between $30 million and $400 million, to an ongoing minor capital works program exceeding $10 million annually. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept through to delivery and handover
Your work will directly contribute to the revitalisation and transformation of IRT’s aged care centres, independent living communities, and supporting facilities across NSW, Queensland and the ACT. The role includes assisting in the planning and execution of complex refurbishments, new residential construction, infrastructure upgrades, and compliance-driven improvements

You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting Development Managers with the delivery of multiple concurrent projects across our major developments and capital works portfolios.
- Coordinating day-to-day project operations including scheduling, site inspections, budget tracking, procurement, and reporting.
- Collaborating with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects moving.
- Ensuring construction works comply with relevant planning approvals, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and ensuring works are delivered on time and within budget.
- Supporting tender processes, documentation management, and quality control procedures.
- Helping to ensure seamless communication between project teams, contractors, suppliers, and senior management.

- Tertiary and/or Postgraduate qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management, property development, or project management, with a solid understanding of the property development lifecycle.
- Experience in managing or supporting the execution of construction projects (residential, commercial, or mixed-use) is preferred.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project and Argus EstateMaster).
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.
- Knowledge of construction processes and techniques.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Results-driven, with a focus on cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Strong focus on ensuring that construction work meets the project’s requirements.
