Automation Engineer

Smile IT is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead and deliver automation and toolset consolidation projects across our top 100 clients.

This role focuses on building scalable, reliable, and secure automation solutions across platforms including ImmyBot, N-Central, NinjaOne, CIPP, and PIA.ai. You will play a key role in platform migrations, toolset rationalisation, and automation strategy development within Microsoft 365 and endpoint ecosystems.

What You’ll Do

• Lead automation and scripting initiatives to improve service delivery and operational efficiency
• Deliver toolset consolidation and platform migration projects (e.g. AV, RMM, backup, monitoring)
• Build and maintain advanced automation workflows using:
• ImmyBot – endpoint standardisation and compliance automation
• N-Central / NinjaOne – RMM scripting, monitoring, and remediation
• CIPP – Microsoft 365 policy and role-based automation
• PIA.ai – AI-driven orchestration and workflow automation
• Use expert PowerShell scripting to automate tasks across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Windows environments
• Support and maintain automation platforms, ensuring stability, security, and scalability
• Identify automation opportunities and develop long-term strategies for standardisation across environments
• Collaborate with technical teams to align automation outcomes with business needs
• Document, track, and report on all automation initiatives and toolset improvements
  
  

Essential

What You Will Bring:

• Expert-level PowerShell scripting and automation capability
• 3+ years in IT automation or systems engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with tools like ImmyBot, N-Central, NinjaOne, CIPP
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, and Windows endpoint management
• Proven track record delivering platform migrations and toolset consolidation projects
  
  

Desirable

• Experience with AI-based automation tools such as PIA.ai
• Familiarity with compliance automation, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and security baselines
• MSP or multi-tenant experience highly regarded
• Working knowledge of ITIL practices and project delivery frameworks
