The National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC) is one of Adelaide’s leading hospitality and event venues situated in the vibrant East End of the CBD, in close proximity to the emerging Lot Fourteen precinct and new hotels in the area.
Our unique architectural building is surrounded by the green space of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands and plays host to over 800 events per year attracting international, national and local visitors. Events include conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings and seminars.
The NWC is a showcase and focal point for Australia’s wine industry and as such, it has become a beloved landmark for food and wine lovers across the country who have engaged in the range of wine tourism and event experiences on offer.
About the Position
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our team as Conference and Events Services Manager.
This position reports to the Food & Beverage Services Manager and will assist in leading the day-to-day operations of the Conference and Events department to produce world class functions and catering to our clientele.
The successful candidate will be passionate about all things Food & Beverage with experience in Banquets, Conferences and Events and leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Provide strong leadership to motivate and engage the Conference and Events (C&E) team to deliver five-star service.
- Liaise with the Kitchen and Event Planning teams to ensure client expectations are exceeded whilst managing staff, labour costs and training.
- Liaise with clients to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.
- Be highly visible on the C&E floor to oversee/manage major events/functions (this is a hands-on operational role).
- Delegate duties to team leaders & team members as required
- Assist in monitoring the food and beverage stock, controlling costs, profit and loss expenses and wages through effective staffing levels.
This position would ideally suit candidates with previous Conference and Events supervisory experience, in a similar environment (ie. large hotel or convention centre).
Desired candidate attributes:
- Diploma/Degree in hospitality or similar management studies
- Knowledge of F&B operations
- Strong leadership and communication
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Proficient in MS Office
