About the opportunity:

The General Manager, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and Partnerships role is a Permanent, Full-Time role based in Sydney or Melbourne. The GM of M&A and Partnerships is a critical role on the AC&P leadership team, with reach across the whole of HammondCare. This role will drive the growth and expansion of HammondCare’s footprint and care across the country, with a priority to expand in geographies where we currently have services, but with significant scope to scale. HammondCare’s Next Chapter strategy identifies the opportunity for HammondCare to grow through partnerships that will likely span opportunities from operating service agreements with other providers through to mergers & acquisitions. This role will work closely with the EGMs of the respective Care Units (particularly Residential Care & Home Care) to align on growth opportunities and then lead the opportunities end to end from identification through due diligence to financial close.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build a pipeline of partnership opportunities in collaboration with interstate HammondCare senior leaders
  • Build relationships with senior executives and key personnel from partnership prospects
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on growth/ partnership opportunities in line with HammondCare’s Next Chapter strategy, ensuring that valuation and risks are considered with a high degree of rigour and commerciality.
  • Generate creative solutions and novel ways to achieve strategic objectives e.g. through new ventures, partnerships, capital structuring solutions
  • Lead and coordinate transaction processes across various workstreams including but not limited to operational planning, financial due diligence, legal due diligence & risk management
  • Work closely with finance to model three-way financial forecasts for live opportunities
  • Work with all stakeholders to ensure action plans are in place to deliver strategic and financial objectives.
  • Manage the appointment and use of external advisers required to assist partnership opportunities
  • Post-transaction reporting against original assumptions, targets and commitments.
  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports to deliver agreed outcomes and goals
  • Build a performance-driven, team-based culture that fosters collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.


What do we need from you?

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
  • 10+ years in M&A transaction or similar investment/ finance related roles
  • Proven experience in operating in complex sector(s) with multiple stakeholders
  • Qualification in accounting, legal or finance, or other relevant field of study
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to independently build financial models, valuations, debt structures is desirable.
  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship and communication skills.
  • Post-transaction implementation experience is desirable
  • Ability to influence and negotiate
  • Passion for improving the lives of older Australians, with knowledge of aged care being advantageous.
