Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance & Operations Support Officer to join our team across our Racecourse Refinery and Mackay Port Packing sites in QLD. This full-time role is ideal for someone with strong coordination, systems, and logistics experience who enjoys working in a hands-on, fast-paced operational setting.
Working closely with our maintenance and operations teams, this role supports procurement, contractor coordination, inventory management, and maintenance systems — helping to ensure the smooth running of our engineering and production sites. This role is well suited to someone who is proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

As our Maintenance & Operations Support Officer, you'll play a key role in keeping our maintenance systems running efficiently. From coordinating parts and materials to managing contractors and supporting maintenance planning, you'll be key to ensuring operational readiness across both sites. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same.

As our Maintenance & Operations Support Officer, you'll play a key role in keeping our maintenance systems running efficiently. What you'll be doing:
- Coordinating the maintenance management system (SAP) including work orders and inventory
- Accurately completing purchasing processes, including requisitions, goods receipt, and invoice approvals
- Ordering and managing maintenance parts, PPE, and operational supplies
- Supporting site logistics including goods inwards, deliveries, and freight
- Assisting with contractor onboarding, inductions, and compliance records
- Managing vehicle servicing, workshop housekeeping, and waste coordination
- Participating in shutdown preparation and materials coordination
- Supporting stocktakes, cycle counts, and materials cataloguing in SAP
- Providing general administration support to site leadership as required
- Attending maintenance meetings and collaborating with key internal teams

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Previous experience in engineering stores, purchasing and inventory management
- Background in a manufacturing or engineering environment with exposure to engineering materials and components
- Proficiency in SAP for procurement and inventory management
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications for reporting, presentations and administrative tasks
- A current Forklift licence (advantageous)
- Mechanical or electrical trade background (highly regarded)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external suppliers
- Experience in preparing reports, presentations, and business communications
- A strong commitment to safety and understanding of site safety protocols
- Experience supporting contractor onboarding, inductions, and compliance management
