The Role - Your Legal Leadership Journey Begins Here

As their first in-house legal hire, you'll take a strategic seat at the table, responsible for Slice Group & Pay Later Travel, shaping legal, risk, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You'll report directly to the Founder and collaborate closely with the CFO, leadership team, and external counsel. This is a foundational role, ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, commercial creativity, and impact.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Advising leadership on legal risk, governance, contracts, regulatory compliance, and group structure
  • Drafting and negotiating high-value B2B and B2C contracts and partnerships
  • Leading legal strategy for new product launches, expansion into new regions, and capital raising
  • Managing privacy, consumer law, financial services compliance (AU, UK, NZ, US)
  • Building internal legal infrastructure including templates, processes, training and scalable tools
  • Managing external counsel relationships and compliance calendars across jurisdictions



Ideal Background:

We're looking for a commercially minded legal generalist with:

  • 6-10+ years PQE with a blend of private practice and in-house experience
  • Deep fintech, payments, or financial services legal experience - especially with consumer law, AML/CTF, and licensing regimes in AU, UK, US, and NZ.
  • Strong experience across contracting, commercial, regulatory, and data/privacy law.
  • The ability to balance commercial agility with legal rigour
  • Comfort working solo and building from scratch
  • A clear communicator and strategic thinker who can operate globally and cross-functionally
