Your role:
We are seeking an Industrial Painter who will contribute to our mission by providing assistance to the Supervisors, and other assistant tradespersons in the maintenance and repair of vessels within Transdev Sydney Ferries (TDSF).
This role will be permanent full time and based in our shipyard in Balmain, however you may be required to work in different locations such as Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Manly, and Inner Harbour Wharves. As our Industrial Painter you will use your skills in painting applications and knowledge in surface preparation and coating applications within an industrial or shipyard environment.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of talented professionals and bring your unique skills and perspectives to support our goals. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of modernising our vessels and our maintenance environment here at TDSF shipyard.

Your responsibilities:
- Assist with the docking and maintenance of vessels, with a focus on the painting requirements
- Prepare metal surfaces of heavy industrial machinery, ships and infrastructure, using abrasive blast-cleaning techniques
- Undertake all tasks directed by the Production Manager for which you have the skill and capacity to complete successfully and safely
- Apply protective coating application operations specific to vessel specifications
- Conduct yourself professionally and safely and comply with all workplace safety policies and procedures
- Certificate III - Painting & Decorating or Certificate III - Surface Preparation & Coating Application or equivalent
- 3+ years of relevant practical experience
- Knowledge of properties of paints and other coating products for internal and external use within a marine environment
