The AWU NSW Branch is currently seeking a passionate and committed Industrial Organiser to join our team. This full-time role is based in our Unanderra Office, covering the South Coast region of New South Wales.

About The Role
We’re looking for someone who is driven by purpose and committed to empowering workers and building union strength at the workplace level. You will be on the front lines of workplace advocacy, supporting members and building capacity through organising, negotiations, and campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong workplace relationships and lead recruitment conversations that promote union values and collective strength
- Develop and implement strategic organising plans
- Negotiate enterprise agreements with employers
- Identify and develop workplace delegates and member leaders
- Visit worksites regularly and identify new organising opportunities
- Provide support and advice to members on workplace issues and grievances
- Participate in and lead workplace campaigns
- Represent the AWU and its members at the Fair Work Commission
- Collaborate with OHS delegates to uphold safe and fair workplaces
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in workplace organising or campaigning, ideally within a union or not-for-profit context
- Strong knowledge of the Australian union movement and the Fair Work Act
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in Office 365 and experience using CRM or member database systems
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the region
- A commitment to ongoing learning and innovation in organising practice
- Experience representing members before industrial tribunals or in enterprise bargaining processes
- Full-time position based in the South Coast region (Unanderra Office)
