Overall Job Purpose:

The Public Affairs Manager/Associate role delivers key initiatives to shape the external environment to deliver optimized patient access to Lilly innovative medicines in Australia and New Zealand and to shape public perception of the company. This includes strategic external communications and media, advocacy, corporate reputation and issues management, and policy shaping initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Environment shaping

  • Implement comprehensive, integrated public affairs strategies to shape the environment and achieve market access and value for Lilly medicines.
  • Work cross-functionally at affiliate, regional and global level to ensure a structured, coordinated and synergistic ES approach that aligns with business goals
  • Contribute to government engagement strategies and commission research to inform policy shaping and advocacy initiatives.

Stakeholder management

  • Build and maintain a stakeholder map and engagement plan in prioritised therapeutic areas, working closely with the cross functional team.
  • Establish strong, enduring relationships with key external stakeholders, including scientific societies, patient organisations, key influencers and media.
  • Identify and deliver strategic partnership opportunities to strengthen future relationships and deliver on business objectives.

Media & Communications

  • Lead external media and communications plan delivery, including readiness for data, regulatory and reimbursement milestones.
  • Represent Lilly's positions effectively and clearly in external meetings, industry associations and working groups.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and delivery of internal communications to support outreach to therapeutic area communities.

Corporate Reputation

  • Design and deliver initiatives to increase awareness and enhance the reputation of Lilly as a company and trusted partner and thought leader in healthcare and more broadly.
  • Operate with full understanding and adherence to the highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, including but not limited to Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Lilly policies.

Qualifications and experience:

  • University undergraduate or post-graduate degrees in communications, political science or law are desired.
  • 5+ years' experience in environment shaping, media/communications or patient advocacy role
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage with the patient & professional advocacy customer community
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy, pharmaceutical access environment and key player interests
  • Experience working in relevant therapeutic area and established relationships with key external stakeholders is desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional setting and ability to lead & manage a peer team to drive business results is desirable.
