About The Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Cape Lambert to provide technical assistance, support, and expert advice on a continuous improvement practices.

You’ll be part of a high performing team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. 

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, you will be responsible for the below

  • Adhere to all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies and procedures and report any safety hazards and risks to the appropriate channels
  • Provide technical support to maintenance teams for a variety of physical assets, including assisting in planning, prioritisation, provision of logistical and technical support for general maintenance work, and emergent work (e.g., breakdowns and shutdowns)
  • Govern data quality to enable loss analysis and loos accounting quality control
  • Review daily KPI’s relating to production critical assets or systems
  • Participate in reliability facilitated assets tactics development, identify asset tactics that require review / improvement and support implementation of strategy for executing asset tactics and maintenance strategies
  • Lead improvement projects centred around maintainability and provide input on design projects
  • Develop and implement containment actions from asset health function as required - e.g. work management, systems and processes
  • Support Asset recovery to help return it to a functional state
  • Ensure precision maintenance and hydrocarbon management processes adhere to quality standards
  • Provide technical support for PM02 / PM03 scope development
  • Support risk analysis, monitor and estimate repairs and provide inputs for go / no-go
  • Responsible for maintenance executive standards / QA

What You’ll Bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team 
  • A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence (Manual)
  • A Bachelor of Engineering in relevant discipline or other relevant technical field experience
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset 
  • Experience in engineering or maintenance roles
  • Experience working in a fixed plant and / or MEM environment preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in small teams or independently and demonstrate adaptability
  • Experience in delivering Continuous Improvement initiatives and projects
  • Demonstrate understanding of budget preparation, asset criticality, cost drivers, asset risk, asset performance and asset life cycles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP or equivalent CMMS

Where you’ll be working

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
