The Opportunity
Veolia has an exciting opportunity for a Functional Lead - Contracts and Procurement to join our Water Division in Pyrmont 2009. This pivotal role will focus on developing and implementing procurement strategies and managing supplier relationships across a diverse portfolio of spend, including:
- Minor/Brownfields Capital Works - design and construction of improvements of water treatment facilities
- Water Networks Services - specialist technical equipment (estimated spend $50m over 5 years)
- Water Treatment Operations - enhancing national spend strategies and supporting regional buyers to continuously improve value for our clients.

What you'll be responsible for
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Lead the procurement function strategy, including long term growth and improvement plans.
- Manage and mentor a small team of procurement professionals.
- Optimise procurement processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide expert advice on procurement policies and best practices.
- Analyse spending patterns and market trends to identify cost saving opportunities.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive procurement initiatives.
- Work closely with legal and finance teams to review and approve contracts.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement activities.
- Stay informed about industry trends and innovations in procurement practices.
What you'll need to be successful
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
- Strategic thinker with a focus on process optimisation and continuous improvement.
