Your role at St John of God Burwood

We are seeking applications for an experienced Chef to join our Burwood Catering team on a permanent part-time basis.

Working as a Chef, you will prepare food for patients, visitors and staff in an appealing manner. You will offer an environment of welcome to all stakeholders and be able to cover the Chef Supervisor when required.

The Position

• Prepares food for patients, visitors and staff in an appealing and hospitable manner.
• Relays any needs of patients (including special diets) to the Head Chef – General Services.
• Maintains work practices according to hospital policies, procedures and standards.
• Demonstrates safe food practices as per HACCP guidelines.
• Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance & Continuous Quality Improvement projects.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritise situations as they occur during the shift.
• Manages own workload and complete agreed upon duty statement for that area/section by the completion of each shift.
  
  

You will hold a Food Handlers’ Certificate and trade qualifications (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of NSW Health and Food Safety requirements. You will also bring extensive experience in a variety of cooking techniques, along with a high level of customer service skills, including flexibility, tact, and diplomacy.

Successful applicants will have previous experience in hospital or aged care settings, along with the flexibility to work AM and PM shifts, including weekends and public holidays. They will also be willing to cover annual leave and absences for the Head Chef and Chef as required.

We can offer you

• Salary: $60,143 to $66,626 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 11.5% Superannuation
• Permanent part-time, working 30 hours per week
