Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital

You will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of health and wellness strategies and to coordinate health, safety and wellness initiatives within the division in accordance with Group OHS strategy. You will provide sound OHS advice and support to managers and safety representatives.

This position will work across our 3 South East Melbourne sites (Berwick, Langmore & Frankston)

The Position:

  • Assist the OHS Manager in ensuring Divisional compliance with OHS legislative compliance framework and effective risk management systems are in place.
  • Support Managers, supervisors and caregivers in understanding and carrying out their role of ensuring their duty of care and other legislative requirements are met in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an injury prevention and wellness program.
  • Contribute and participate in OHS related policy development and implementation.
  • Participate in risk assessments and recommend risk management strategies.
  • Assist managers and OHS Representatives to inspect the workplace and workplace equipment to ensure they meet safety regulations and to identify hazards and risks.
  • Assist with the investigation of incidents and provide support and advice to mitigate risks.

You will have sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary OHS legislation and practice including risk assessment, hazard identification, assessment and control, and the conduct of workplace OHS inspections and audits.

To succeed you will have capacity to provide OHS support and advice with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Healthcare experience and Diploma in OHS is desirable.

  • Salary: $103,303 to $114,732 per annum (pro rata if part time) plus 12% superannuation.
