ASIC's Superannuation and Life Insurance group is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead Superannuation and Life Insurance team.
The Superannuation and Life Insurance team at ASIC is primarily responsible for regulating and supervising the superannuation and life insurance sectors to ensure compliance with laws and promote good outcomes for consumers. This involves proactive engagement, monitoring, analysis, research, surveillance, supervision, and stakeholder engagement. The team provides strategic direction, industry knowledge, and technical expertise, considers applications for relief from legislative requirements, supports regulatory reform activities, and assists other ASIC teams in enforcement and compliance actions.
The role
As a sector leadership team member, the Senior Manager coordinates and manages the sector to achieve regulatory priorities. They lead teams to address regulatory issues and collaborate across departments to deliver programs that ensure legal compliance and positive consumer outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive experience managing complex projects in the financial services industry, with deep knowledge of regulatory, product, operations, risk, and client service aspects.

In Addition, You Will Be
- Leading and managing teams to proactively address regulatory issues in the sector, ensuring good consumer outcomes and adherence to the law. This includes engaging with ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance functions to harness regulatory intelligence.
- Overseeing risk-based, data-driven supervision of the sector, including the development and implementation of supervision programs, and identifying new ways to utilize data for effective regulatory strategies.
- Providing strategic direction to project staff for delivering findings and regulatory responses and coordinating ASIC's work in these sectors with industry knowledge and technical expertise.
- Supporting policy and law reform initiatives, including developing new guidance, training, systems, and processes, and collaborating on sector-specific law reform projects.
- Building and managing strategic partnerships with stakeholders, industry groups, and other regulatory bodies, representing ASIC externally, and fostering effective stakeholder engagement and relationships across the sector.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive experience managing complex projects in the financial services industry, with deep knowledge of regulatory, product, operations, risk, and client service aspects.
In Addition, You Will Have
- Deep knowledge and practical experience in superannuation or life insurance from a regulatory, operations, risk, or client service viewpoint.
- Strong knowledge and experience of coaching and supporting team members to foster staff team and individual development, the encouragement of high-performance teams, and lead professional development initiatives.
- Proven strategic thinking and analytical skills, including identifying emerging trends, conducting research, and presenting data-driven insights.
- Highly developed problem-solving and analysis skills, with the ability to draw reasoned inferences from quantitative and qualitative data to reach robust conclusions.
- Excellent communication skills for coaching and mentoring team members, preparing concise business reports, presenting to executive and board levels, and maintaining a continuous improvement approach.
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous development, that includes a proactive approach to the giving and receiving of constructive feedback.
