Your New Role

As the Head of Government Relations & Public Policy, you will lead the development and execution of government relations strategies for a leading national industry superannuation fund and a significant global investor. You will represent the organisation in various forums, engage with high-level stakeholders, and manage a team of specialised professionals to achieve the business goals. Your role will encompass policy analysis, negotiation, advocacy, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring effective outcomes for a broad range of stakeholders.

Key duties include but are not limited to

  • Advocate for continuous improvement to governance structures, policies, and processes.
  • Manage risk in accordance with the Fund's Risk Management Framework.
  • Implement strong risk controls on processes, policies, and systems to limit breaches.
  • Build and promote a team culture of compliance and risk management awareness.
  • Act as a trusted adviser and partner to the Fund, including senior leadership and executive teams.
  • Ensure consistent and aligned narratives relating to our Investment strategy are known and used across the Fund.
  • Support proactive stakeholder management and communication to achieve strategic goals.
  • Seize opportunities to communicate investment communications domestically and globally in support of strategic objectives.
  • Develop high levels of understanding of stakeholder and reputation considerations within the Investment Team.
  • Ensure effective career development plans are in place for the team.

What You'll Need

  • Tertiary qualifications in strategy, commerce, political science, communications, finance, business, or a related field (mandatory)
  • Experience developing and delivering government relations strategies
  • Knowledge of global financial services policy debates
  • Experience representing national organisations in multiple forums
  • High-level policy analysis skills
  • Superannuation policy expertise
  • Strong communication and influencing abilities
  • Negotiation and advocacy experience
  • Stakeholder engagement and networking skills
