About the Role:
Our SME team plays a key role in achieving Origin’s strategy, supporting small and medium businesses with simple, value-rich energy plans and complementary services like broadband, LPG, and EV solutions.
We’re looking for an inspiring and commercially savvy leader to take the reins of our SME Sales function. You’ll be accountable for driving transformational growth across all customer acquisition and retention channels, while ensuring excellence in customer experience, commercial outcomes, and compliance. This role is critical in shaping the future of how Origin engages and grows its business customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead sales strategy and performance across all SME channels: Inbound, Outbound, Brokers, Digital, and Tenders.
- Drive results across the “7 C’s”: Compliance, Conversion, Customer Experience, Cross-sell, Cost Efficiency, Channel Consistency, and Channel Choice.
- Influence cross-functional decisions and contribute to broader SME strategy.
- Strengthen commercial relationships with brokers and third-party partners.
- Champion digital sales growth through improved journeys and conversion.
- Lead field sales operations with a focus on compliance and culture.
- Make data-led investment decisions to drive growth and optimise performance.
- Build a high-performing, customer-first sales team through clear vision and coaching.
You’re a proven sales and commercial leader with deep experience managing high-performing teams in complex industries. You’re known for your strategic thinking, customer-first mindset, and the ability to create clarity and drive outcomes in fast-paced environments.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in senior sales or commercial leadership roles and leading leaders and cross-functional teams at scale.
- Strategic planning skills and a bias for delivery and measurable results.
- Commercial acumen, including P&L management and investment decision-making.
- A passion for coaching and building a high-performance, customer-centric culture.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing senior executives.
- Experience with compliance frameworks, especially in regulated sectors.
