Senior DevOps Engineer

The company is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia and has offices in the UK, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Guatemala, Philippines, and Bahamas.

The Engineering team is essential in ensuring seamless system interoperability and enhancing operational efficiency across the organisation. The Engineering team collaborates to provide the successful candidate with a great knowledge base of the company and the broader financial services industry.

Responsibilities

Automation & Delivery:

• Design and build automated systems that allow infrastructure and applications to be launched quickly and reliably.
• Develop internal workflows that ensure repeatable, efficient delivery of updates and changes across environments.
• Create standard templates and starting points to help teams launch new projects or systems with ease.
• Empower other teams to manage their own environments through self-service platforms and tools.
  
  

Environment Management

• Take ownership of our cloud environments, ensuring they are stable, secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Apply modern architectural practices to ensure systems are resilient and perform under pressure.
• Manage the configuration of networks and services to optimize performance and ensure safe access.
  
  

Security & Governance

• Embed secure design principles into everything you build—controlling who has access to what and ensuring data is protected.
• Help enforce compliance standards through automation and consistent practices.
• Collaborate with internal security teams to ensure risks are monitored and managed effectively.
  
  

Monitoring & Optimisation

• Ensure systems are observable by building out health and performance monitoring from day one.
• Continuously review system performance, cost usage, and availability to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Establish meaningful metrics that help the business understand the health and impact of our systems.
  
  

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor team members and help level up engineering capabilities across the business.
• Advocate for engineering best practices and modern approaches to operations and delivery.
• Partner closely with product, development, and security teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with business priorities.
  
  

Who are you?

• You've worked in fast-moving environments where you supported multiple systems or clients at once.
• You're hands on, adaptable, and able to operate independently without relying on large support teams
• Boilerplate development – .NET, Go, and Python for standardized deployments.
• You prefer smaller, collaborative teams over big corporate structures, you're used to wearing multiple hats.
• Serverless computing – Lambda, Fargate, and containerized workloads.
• You're confident explaining your work clearly, whether in writing, over a call, or via a shared document.
• You're security conscious, automation focused, and always looking for ways to make systems easier to manage and scale.
• Terraform – strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• CI/CD – hands-on experience with GitHub Actions for automated deployments.
