BESS Solutions Engineer

Reporting to the Renewable Solutions Manager, you will play a key role in creating and implementing strategic initiatives to drive growth, efficiency and expand presence in the on-grid and off-grid energy markets.
Energy Solutions supplies energy storage, microgrid solutions, generator sets for continuous power, prime power, emergency standby power, mobile applications, and efficiency-optimising solutions that integrate cogeneration systems.
In this role you will:
- Drive direct marketing and sales efforts for Penske’s BESS, microgrid, and renewable energy solutions, achieving set sales targets and business growth objectives.
- Analyse customer requirements and ensure that Penske’s technology is fit for purpose, functionally and technically.
- Support and execute business development strategies to acquire new clients and expand into new markets and regions.
- Lead or support product development initiatives for microgrids and renewable energy solutions, ensuring maturity in documentation, certification, and customer-focused innovation
- Manage customer requirements in power models, studies and compliance to respective standards, namely PSCAD/PSSE and Power Factory format.
- Foster strong client relationships through regular communication to ensure satisfaction, identify opportunities, and enhance ongoing sales and marketing efforts.
- Gather and analyse market intelligence from customers, industry representatives, and competitors to inform product development and ensure alignment with market demands.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Electrical or Controls
- Strong experience in a technical or sales role within the energy sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), power generation technologies, and
- competitor offerings in on-grid market place.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry standards, in particular AS3000, and BESS applicable standards.
- Skilled in direct sales, negotiation, and customer engagement, with formal training and a track record of delivering tailored energy solutions.
- Experience or exposure to grid studies and grid connection processes for larger than one MW power systems.
- Self-starter, Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in business systems and a solid grasp of business operations.
- Strong technical and commercial acumen, with the ability to understand customer needs, interpret technical specifications, and drive effective product changes.
