As a Learning & Development Advisor on QTMP with Downer, you'll drive impactful training initiatives and support workforce growth on one of the state's largest infrastructure projects.

We're proud to be delivering the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), and we're looking for the best people to help make it happen.

QTMP involves the design, manufacture and maintenance of 65 new six-car passenger trains to support Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. These trains will be built at a new, purpose-built facility in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast.

About the role

The Learning & Development Advisor supports the QTMP workforce by working directly with key stakeholders including managers and employees to identify learning and development requirements, implement development programs, provide advice, support and recommendations to key stakeholders on training needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify training needs and deliver strategic learning solutions.
  • Coordinate structured entry programs including apprenticeships, traineeships, cadetships, graduate and diversity pathways.
  • Promote career opportunities through community and education engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, quality, and governance standards.
  • Manage and configure the LMS to support accurate training records, compliance tracking, and reporting.
  • Develop training calendars, monitor expiring competencies, and support internal/external training logistics.
  • Design and deliver professional development programs aligned with adult learning principles.
  • Support reporting, dashboards, and audits to ensure data integrity and alignment with Downer Group standards.

About You

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • HR Diploma/Degree is advantageous
  • Experience managing structured entry programs (preferred)
  • Skilled in training program administration
  • Flexible and responsive to project and stakeholder needs
  • Strong planning, multitasking, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in LMS systems, including configuration and reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to manage competing priorities
