We are looking for an experienced Accounting Professional with exposure to retail to support to the business in Oceania.
The Head of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting function and retail finance operations across Australia and New Zealand. This role reports directly to the Finance Director, and manages key areas including Accounting, Reporting, Retail finance operation, Treasury, Tax and Auditing.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Financial Operations: Oversee and manage the financial accounting and retail finance operations team (3 sub-functions AP, AR, & GL).
- Financial Reporting: Direct the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with applicable financial reporting regulations and accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), as well as Group standards.
- Financial Governance: Own and promote financial governance, continuously adapting to new Accounting and Tax regulations while providing a reliable framework and guidance.
- Compliance Management: Drive statutory and tax compliance, including management of financial statements and external auditors, income tax returns, voluntary disclosures, and collaboration with the Group tax team on Transfer Pricing and the Top 1000 Combined Assurance Program.
- Capital Management: Assess capital requirements and manage loans to support operational needs by liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Actively lead process improvement initiatives, streamline standard operating procedures, and leverage new technologies to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Team Development: Foster organisational development aligned with company objectives, with a strong focus on the growth and development of team members.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with Richemont Group Accounting, Group Tax, Group Treasury, Regional Finance, the Taxation Bureau, Internal and External Auditors, and Tax Consultants on all aspects of accounting, treasury, audit, and tax inquiries, as well as addressing critical issues.
- Operational Guidance: Serve as the finance subject matter expert, providing operational guidance and engaging in various retail operational challenges and fintech enhancement projects.
- Business Management: Ability to effectively manage day-to-day business transactions, summarise complex financial data, and oversee projects.
- Regulatory Adaptability: Capacity to independently and continuously adapt to new Accounting and Tax regulations while providing a clear framework and guidance.
- Stakeholder Management: Proficient in navigating a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management abilities to attract, retain, and develop talent within the team.
- Resource Planning: Expertise in planning and organising resources to meet various concurrent functional requirements.
- Process Efficiency: Proven track record in driving efficient business and accounting processes.
- Transformation Initiatives: Ability to lead simplification and transformation projects effectively
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA or equivalent), with good knowledge of IFRS and Tax and strong integrity
- Minimum 5 years relevant Management experience in accounting/auditing; retail industry experience is an advantage
- Strong commercial acumen with business partnering experience and capacity to influence
- Confident and tactful in dealing with different levels of management, with courage to lead the finance agenda.
- Capacity to drive the finance team with empathy, humility and foster curiosity
- SAP FICO experience is a plus but not mandatory
