Senior Waste Contracts and Projects Officer

We are seeking a Senior Waste Contracts and Projects Officer, to work across critical waste service contracts, driving circular economy initiatives, and delivering impactful projects that align with the waste management and resource recovery strategy.

Reporting to the Program Leader, you’ll work with purpose and autonomy—engaging stakeholders, managing contractor performance, and delivering innovative resource recovery outcomes that make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end procurement and management of waste and recycling service contracts
• Provide expert advice on contract variations, negotiations, and compliance
• Deliver high-impact waste and recycling projects from strategy to execution
• Advise on development applications to ensure sustainable waste systems
• Build strong partnerships across contractors, businesses, internal teams, and community stakeholders
• Be an escalation point for complex service issues and customer matters
  
  

What you will bring to the role:

• Relevant qualifications and proven experience in waste management, procurement, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of local government waste policy, legislation, and operations
• Excellent contract and project management skills with the ability to drive performance
• Outstanding communication and negotiation capabilities
• Tech-savvy with strong Microsoft Office and corporate systems experience
