Volunteer Law Clerk/PLT Placement

Job Description

Kate King Legal is a boutique law firm specialising in Criminal Law located in the Perth CBD. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working law student or recent graduate to join our team as a Volunteer Law Clerk. Please note that some work undertaken can count towards Practical Legal Training hours.

You will be mentored by experienced solicitors and your duties will include:

• Legal Research;
• Trial preparation and attendance;
• Assisting with affidavits and court documents;
• Assisting with correspondence;
• File Management;
• Various administrative duties;
• Utilising LEAP legal software; and
• Attending court.
  
  

Selection Criteria

Essential

• Ability to work independently under the supervision of legal practitioners;
• Dedicated, hard-working, well organised and with a keen eye for detail;
• Strong written and oral communication skills; and
• Available one to two days per week.
  
  

Preferred

• Some previous experience working in a legal or administrative environment; and
• Interest and desire to practice in criminal law.
