The Sustainability Officer will drive Environment related activity across the business and coordinate other Sustainability related activity with Business Functions.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Drive the Environmental Program by:
    • Contributing to developing the plan for Saab Australia to achieve its Climate Targets;
    • Working with internal and external stakeholders to define and action improvement opportunities (including working with global stakeholders);
    • Chair the Environmental Committee.
  • Report status of Environmental targets.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of Sustainability data from other Business Functions.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the ISO 14001 certified management system.
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, Health & safety, Bullying, Harassment, Violence and Aggression, and duty of care and the quality management system.
  • Treat everyone with respect, communicate regularly and openly with manager and team, and ensure all decisions are made with fairness in mind.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills And Experience

  • Experience in working with environmental management systems and/or other ISO based management systems;
  • Working knowledge of environment and climate related concepts and issues;
  • Experience in working with broader business sustainability topics;
  • Strong computer literacy skills including ability to use excel, PowerPoint and be able to extract information from various information systems;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve results;
  • Organisational skills with ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Experience in working with Defence related projects (desirable).


Educational Qualifications And Professional Memberships

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical or business discipline.
