About The Role

The Infrastructure System Planner will assist the Systems Planning and Land Acquisition (SP&LA) team with the creation, planning and delivery of products and services to Sydney Water’s customers. This role plays an essential part in ensuring optimum service levels are always provided to our customers.

System Plans set the servicing direction to support growth in line with the NSW Government’s overarching vision, and its plans for that specific region or precinct. These plans present a 30-year strategic pathway and a 5-year investment plan for integrated water services and outputs of these plans are developed in collaboration and consultation with external stakeholders, including government agencies and local councils. These plans are the basis of our publicly available Growth Servicing Plans.

You Will

  • Undertake, with supervision and guidance, the development of system planning activities for integrated water (Water, Wastewater, Storm water , Re-cycled water) including preparing planning guidelines, tenders, plans and business cases and contribute to high quality planning outputs and solutions;
  • Realise within plans, integration opportunities across systems, drivers, customers, catchments, resources, materials, products and services:
  • Provide urban water management expertise in some specific areas (stormwater, water, wastewater, etc) that contributes to developing plans:
  • Provide inputs to components of plans as they are developed and reviewed:
  • Complete allocated planning tasks, within required timeframes and compliant with planning procedures

Who are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Planning, Science or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience, with demonstrated experience and skills in the development and management of integrated approaches to urban water service and infrastructure planning.
  • Understanding and experience with major water or other similar utility
  • Understanding of Strategic Asset Planning concepts and evolving infrastructure planning techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills internal and external to the organisation.
  • Water and Wastewater modelling experience will be preferred.

Sydney Water’s Systems SP&LA group leads the development of short, medium and long-term integrated plans for assets, systems and regions. Key customers and stakeholders include local government, regulators, customer and community groups, developers and planning bodies.

The SP&LA group - comprising of Master Planning System Planning, Treatment Planning ,Program Management and Land Acquisition - is focused on ensuring Sydney Water delivers the right assets at the right time via the management and delivery of Regional and Precinct plans, Integrated Systems plans, and Feasible Conceptual Designs and timely acquisition of land to support creation of new assets and maintain/upgrade existing assets.
