The role

Our client, based in Sydney presents an exciting opportunity to lead transformative water projects, ensuring efficient and sustainable solutions for the future.

We are seeking a Project Director to oversee major water treatment and desalination projects within the Delivery Phase Services (DPS) team. You will manage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) initiatives aimed at securing safe and sustainable water resources for urban and industrial applications.

Beyond leading project execution, you will play a crucial role in business growth, working alongside industry experts and leveraging strategic partnerships to support expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Market Leader to identify opportunities and lead major business development initiatives.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Deliver projects under execution models such as EPCM, IPMT, CMS, and OE+ services.
  • Guide technical teams through water treatment and desalination system design, engineering, and execution.
  • Provide strategic oversight, managing reporting, planning, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify and address project risks, implementing contingency plans to ensure smooth progress.
  • Collaborate with joint venture and alliance partners to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 20+ years of experience leading major water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage EPCM tenders, establish strong execution teams, and drive project success.
  • Extensive experience in desalination, water treatment, and large-scale water supply projects.
  • Strong understanding of membrane filtration, process optimization, and treatment technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, securing opportunities and driving strategic growth.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to engage key stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and inclusion across all project phases.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, water management, or a related discipline.
