About the role
Sol Distribution, a key part of AGL, delivers high-quality, behind-the-meter energy solutions including solar PV, batteries, and energy efficiency technologies to businesses across Australia. Our team plays a critical role in accelerating Australia's energy transition, helping customers reduce their costs and carbon footprint through smarter, sustainable energy choices.
We're now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to join our high-performing national sales team. Reporting to the National Business Development Manager - Sol Distribution, this autonomous role will see you managing a portfolio of residential, small business, and commercial & industrial customers across your region.
You'll play a key role in positioning AGL at the forefront of the distribution energy market-owning the entire sales lifecycle, building a qualified pipeline of opportunities, and delivering high-value outcomes. This role is a blend of office, home and face-to-face client engagement, giving you flexibility and ownership over your time.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Own your territory - Build and manage a pipeline of qualified sales opportunities across residential, small business, and C&I customers.
- Close high-impact deals - Deliver tailored energy solutions using solar, batteries, and energy efficiency technologies to exceed revenue and margin targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally - Work with marketing, technical, and operations teams to craft compelling proposals and pricing.
- Lead with insight - Stay across industry trends, attend events, and bring market feedback to shape future sales strategy.
- Track your success - Use CRM and ERP tools to report pipeline progress and customer activity, keeping leadership informed and aligned.
About you:
- Previous record of achieving sales quotas in a B2BC environment, ideally with behind the meter technologies, including Solar PV, storage and energy efficiency projects.
- A hunter mentality with demonstrated success in developing and executing sales plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of customer needs, requirements and correlating to potential business value that can be provided by AGL.
- Strong understanding of the energy market and energy solutions space.
