The opportunity…
The Master Data Manager oversees the administration and governance of master data, ensuring its quality and consistency to support business operations. They lead the Master Data team, collaborate across departments, and implement strategies and policies for effective data management.
1. Master Data Administration and Management:- Responsible for administration and management of master data, ensuring governance, quality, integrity, accuracy, completeness and consistency of master data across all systems.
- Oversee creation, maintenance, and deletion of master data, ensuring adherence with master data administration and governance policies, processes and frameworks.
- Support master data operations by monitoring and analysing master data with an enterpriseunderstanding.
- Lead the ongoing administration and maintenance of data standards for all areas of master data, including but not limited to:
- Material Master Data
- Customer Master Data
- Vendor Master Data
- Purchasing Information Records
- Pricing Data
- GS1 National Product Catalogue (NPC)
- Sales Territories / Unassigned sales
- SAP MDG and/or other master data management systems and tools
- Oversee the Master Data Service Desk and work on cases/tickets as required.
- Develop and refine processes for master data entry, validation and management to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Manage master data-related projects and initiatives, including system upgrades, data migrations, and process improvements.
- Work with the team members to deliver the activities related to the master data stream on projects and initiatives, ensuring all deliverables and quality standards are met.
- Develop and maintain documentation and detailed working instructions to ensure processes and workflows are effectively documented.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of master data processes, including master data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and process flow diagrams.
- Engage with global teams to address specific master data management needs.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, frameworks and industry best practices.
3. Team Leadership and Development
4. Other responsibilities:- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to digitalise master data management capabilities, automating processes to increase effectiveness and master data quality.
- Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to assist in the administration and management of master data requirements and ensure smooth challenges and issues resolution.
- Provide training and support to end-users on master data management best practices and tools (e.g. SAP MDG) functionalities.
- Liaise with external vendors for master data management solutions and services as required.
- Promote a data-driven culture throughout the organisation by establishing a clear vision for master data management and developing a robust governance framework to ensure the data's validity,reliability, and consistency.
- Support the Head of Data and Analytics and ad hoc duties as required.

The ideal candidate for the Master Data Manager role is a detail-oriented, proactive professional with strong time management and communication skills. They are a quick learner with high accuracy, diligence, and the ability to work independently or within cross-functional teams. Resilient and adaptable, they can meet deadlines under pressure while focusing on efficiency, user experience, and continuous improvement. Strong analytical thinking, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to follow directions and prioritize effectively are also key.
Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data disciplines or any related field.
- 10+ years of experience in master data administration and management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, with a strong focus on master data governance.
- 3+ years experience with SAP ERP, SAP MDG and /or other master data management tools.
- Experience with digital platforms and Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proficiency in master data quality management, master data cleansing techniques and identifying opportunities to streamline master data administration and management processes.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to support professional development.
- Experience with business analysis or data analysis, with strong system, data and analytical skills to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data governance, protection and data privacy regulations.
Desirable
- Master Data Management and / or Governance Certification or other relevant certifications.
- Medical Devices / MedTech Industry experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power Query, Power Automate.
- Knowledge in SQL, Python and/or other data analysis/querying languages.
