Applying the processes, systems and functions required to make new and changed services and features available for use.
Daily Activities may include — but are not limited to:
- packaging and deploying software changes and updates for release into a live environment
- managing continuous delivery/deployment using automation tools for containerisation and orchestration
- using package management tools or application lifecycle management tools for software dependency, version and library control
- combining changes to form a release that delivers a new service or updates an existing service
- adhering to established safety, security and quality standards
- enabling the controlled and effective handover to operational management and the user community
- lead the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk
- liaise with business and technology teams on release scheduling and communication of progress, conducts post-release reviews
- ensure that release processes and procedures are applied and that releases can be rolled back as needed
- identify, evaluate and manage the adoption of appropriate release and deployment techniques, processes and automation tools
- Release and deployment: Level 6
- Sets the release policy for the organisation in the context of both development and production/operations
- Implement processes, tools, and resources to ensure that the transition of services, service components and packages are planned and compliant
- Ensure that test, validation and configuration management are included in all release and deployment activities
- Provide authorisation for critical release activity and point of escalation
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of IT experience, ideally in a Defence ICT centric project or in sustainment
- Ideally experienced as a Lead, SME and Administrator
- Previous Release and Deployment Management experience
- Ability to work in a team environment, participate in project meetings and engage with both business and technical stakeholders
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrable experience of presentation and engagement with stakeholders, projects and business areas
- Excellent written and speaking capability, with a well-developed ability to liaise effectively with and influence stakeholders.
- Previous knowledge and experience in RDM of Defence and/or Coalition networks (Desirable)
Security Clearance:
- Current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance before commencement of work.
- The candidate will be required to comply with the US International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) as the candidate may need to handle export-controlled ICT (hardware and software) products.
