Role:
Reporting to the Head of Litmos Training Content, the Team Lead, Instructional Design leads a small team of instructional designers who work closely within the Content Development team to design learning strategies, researching source material, and writing outlines and storyboards for courses.
As team leader you will be responsible to set and maintain quality standards, grow the skills of the team and provide coaching and professional development to a tight-knit team of instructional designers who are passionate about what they do. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to deliver quality instructional design work yourself.
Please note, whilst this role is home-office based, the team meets on a regular basis in central Melbourne, therefore we are looking for people who can commute into Melbourne for in-person days with the team as required.

Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a small Instructional Design team who are currently based in Melbourne
- Set quality standards for Instructional Design and review, coach and enable the team to meet these standards
- Undertake instructional design tasks:
- Prepare complex project briefs, adapting existing and conceptualising new learning strategies
- Research, review, analyse and assemble source content
- Prepare learning strategies and course outlines
- Write and structure content in course storyboards with recommendations for interactivity, user experience and visual elements
- Write course storyboards that align with established templates and styles guides
- Liaise with product managers and subject matter experts and contribute ideas and innovations to our product
- Research new and emerging education best practices and suggest improvements to our product strategy and continually develop specialist instructional design knowledge to produce learning content of high quality
- Contribute thought leadership content including blogs, research papers and presentations
- Apply learning design expertise to contribute to the scoping, design and delivery of content services to customers.
- Qualification in Education, Communications or similar
- Minimum five years professional experience in instructional design or relevant occupation
- An understanding of the corporate training market and the global skilling and upskilling agenda
- Solid understanding of educational principles and methodologies
- Capacity to work efficiently with a commercial mindset that fosters outcomes with appropriate effort
- Excellent written language skills, including writing in plain language, structural editing, copy editing, and proof reading
- Can handle own projects of any complexity and mentor others
- Experience in leading a small team in an education environment would be an advantage
- An understanding of the global skills agenda
- Experience in commercial e-learning delivery, or the delivery of learning solutions to clients would be beneficial.
