Job Title: Test Automation Architect – Playwright Specialist We’re seeking seasoned Test Automation Architects to lead the design, implementation, and adoption of a Playwright-based test automation framework across a complex enterprise ecosystem. This role is part of a broader Quality Engineering uplift and will play a pivotal role in shaping scalable, maintainable, and modern automation practices across the organisation. What We’re Looking For: We want experts who’ve built real frameworks from scratch — not just used someone else’s. You’ll be comfortable guiding others, advocating for better test design, and getting into the nuts and bolts of complex data and environment challenges. You must be fluent in Playwright (TypeScript) and across the evolving trends in test automation tooling and practices. Key Responsibilities

Academics and Work Experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
- At least 6-10 years of experience with Information Technology
- Tertiary Qualification in IT / Computer Science / related discipline.

- Architect and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript) and other tools as needed.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, driving consistent automation strategies and best practices.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Define and enforce standards, patterns, and governance for test automation across diverse applications and environments.
- Mentor and uplift developers and testers in modern test practices, including async handling, test hooks, and mocking strategies.
- Lead technical discussions, code reviews, and framework evolution initiatives.
- Solve complex challenges around test data strategy, service virtualisation, and environment variability.
- Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies, including AI/ML capabilities in automation.
- Drive observability in test automation (e.g., logs, videos, traces).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align automation with business goals and release strategies. Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years in test automation and framework design, with proven experience building frameworks from scratch.
- Deep, hands-on experience with Playwright and strong proficiency in TypeScript.
- Proficiency in API automation, including RESTful services and contract testing.
- Strong understanding of BDD/TDD practices.
- Experience with Selenium Grid or Selenium Box for distributed test execution and cross-browser testing.
- Experience with containerised test execution (e.g., Docker, Test Containers).
- Experience managing source code repositories using Bitbucket or GitHub.
- Skilled in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions and mentor others. Highly Regarded
- Experience in large-scale automation projects and enterprise ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Visual Regression Testing, Synthetic Monitoring, and Test Observability (e.g. logs, videos, traces).
- Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in testing communities.
- Understanding of Windows internals and batch/terminal-based systems.
- Familiarity with Jira Xray, Splunk, and data pipeline tools like Power BI.
- Domain experience in banking, finance, or regulated industries
