Team Leader - Detection
BOQ Group
Date: 19 hours ago
City: Melbourne, Victoria
Contract type: Full time

About The Role
We’re looking for a confident and hands-on leader to join our Financial Crime Operations team as a Team Leader in Detection. In this role, you’ll lead a team responsible for some of the most critical frontline activities in our AML Operations function—including transaction monitoring, WLM/ Sanctions screening, customer and payment screening, and regulatory report exception handling.
You’ll be the kind of leader who’s not afraid to roll up your sleeves. From managing day-to-day workflows and supporting your team through complex investigations, to ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations and service level expectations, you’ll be across it all. You’ll also play a key role in coaching and developing your team, running regular 1:1s, and helping to build a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
This role also gives you the opportunity to contribute to broader initiatives across Financial Crime Operations—whether that’s supporting regulatory change, refining internal processes, or helping shape the future of how we detect and respond to financial crime.
About You
You’ve got a solid background in Financial crime/ Sanctions and/ or Payments with experience in areas like Live payments, Watch list Management, PEP investigations, SMR, IFTI and TTR reporting. You understand the nuances of ML/TF typologies, High Risk customers, Transaction Monitoring Program, screening requirements, and regulatory reporting, and you’re confident making risk-based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
You should already be in a leadership role, you’re someone who leads with empathy, communicates clearly, and knows how to bring out the best in a team.
You’re organised, detail-oriented, and always looking for ways to improve how things are done. Experience with systems like NetReveal (NROD) or formal AML/CTF qualifications would be a bonus—but what really matters is your mindset, your integrity, and your passion for protecting our customers and community. If this sounds like you – we would love to hear from you!
