Description

The CloudOps Engineering role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our continuing move to an automation first approach for our varied software stacks across multiple continents. You will be working hand in hand with development teams to design and implement their transition to a pipelined CI/CD stack, delivering IaC code to build platforms across multiple public cloud providers and maintain the supporting services to deliver world class observability. You embody the core DevOps principles of collaboration, automation, continuous improvement, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

Our platforms today are critical for large swathes of the legal industry; the software you automate will be used daily across the world. You will have a wide and varied role, but we think the most important responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and maintain automated processes and tooling for application, infrastructure, and operating system deployment.
  • Identify, develop, and execute new automation approaches to continuously improve quality and efficiency.
  • Provide detailed and constructive PR feedback to team members.
  • Maintaining detailed and robust documentation of systems and be able to present and coach people on these systems.
  • Work through the roadmap to identify gaps in our approach and design and prioritize stories to address these gaps.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices in the environment.
  • Work with cloud-native technologies, combining modern technologies, practices, and products into a cohesive platform.
  • Building positive relationships and collaborating with a variety of diverse groups and technical teams
  • Effectively communicate with operational, development and business stakeholders.
  • Have a creative approach to problem solving and the ability to work autonomously to manage deliverables in an environment with high levels of ambiguity.
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines and schedules which may result in external work hours to meet project deliverables.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • 5+ years relevant industry experience (CloudOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Systems Administration).
  • Managing Linux and Windows environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles is highly regarded.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, Cloud Deployment Manager, Azure Resource Manager).
  • Experience with at least one of the major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience with VMWare infrastructure (vSphere, vCenter) including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring principles and experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, or similar. Ability to design and implement effective monitoring dashboards and alerts.
  • Experience in designing and implementing backup and recovery solutions for cloud-based systems. Knowledge of various backup strategies and tools.
  • Experience writing Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, documenting procedures, and executing DR testing scenarios.
  • Strong networking knowledge (routing, subnets, BGP, VPNs).
  • A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment. Experience with incident response, performance optimisation, and root cause analysis is valuable.
  • Ability to design, document, and communicate technical architecture with stakeholders of different knowledge levels.
