About the Role


Our Accounting Advisory Services practice undertakes a wide range of engagements supporting and assisting our clients with complex accounting matters, the related commercial implications and the practical development & implementation of solutions. Our clients include public and private businesses, banks, private equity houses and law firms.


Our team of seasoned professionals has extensive experience supporting clients through regulatory & reporting matters, transactions & restructures, new accounting standards & restatements, accounting policy & control development, audit readiness & remediation.


As a Managing Director, you will help lead our accounting advisory services practice with equal responsibility for selling and delivering services. You will have a strong knowledge of the accounting advisory process, especially regarding the application of accounting standards, problem definition and solution development, the ability to navigate complex stakeholder arrangements and help our clients balance commercial – and often competing – objectives.


What You’ll Do

You will build in-depth knowledge of your clients' objectives and opportunities to design and implement innovative strategies to assist them through their current difficulties or efficiency challenges and prepare them for future opportunities.


Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop long-term relationships and identify opportunities that lead to significant sales or referrals and effectively communicate service offerings through both internal and external channels.
  • Develop specific marketing plans and activities that keep pace with changes in the market with respect to emerging practices and trends.
  • Support senior team members and provide knowledge, experience and other support at critical points throughout the project
  • Responsible for managing organizational and/or contractual project budgets.
  • Lead and manage projects in a complex environment, ensure retention of key clients and use in-depth industry and event / subject-matter knowledge and experience to identify/develop innovative solutions for the client.
  • Lead major proposals.
  • Manage a client and project portfolio, negotiate fees and deliver against agreed commercial objectives
  • Work with various practice leaders to facilitate cross-functional teams to address complex client needs or opportunities.
  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinate activities of other personnel at the Team Lead level as required.
  • Review written analyses, reports, presentations, on the project scope and/or results of activities to ensure a quality product, as well as delivery of all work within established timeframes
  • Act as role model for mentoring, coaching, and learning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Professional accounting experience, including experience such as audit or other assurance
  • Strong understanding of, and interest in, technical accounting advisory and the related compliance and commercial implications
  • Established track record of building client relationships
  • Experience in developing and delivering market and revenue plans
  • Highly proficient in both written and spoken English
  • Strong reporting writing capability and experience
  • Excellent language and interpretive skills
  • Strong analytical and process analysis skills
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting principles
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex financial information
  • Established experience in leading and developing teams
  • Ability to work on multiple client matters at one time
  • Ability to work with senior team members and the client in demanding, deadline-driven situations
  • Strong work ethic and integrity, and high level of professionalism
  • This role may require travel to client and FTI offices
