Cloud Engineer (AWS)
Join a leading Australian cyber security and cloud services consultancy, trusted by government and enterprise clients to deliver mission-critical solutions across the country. With a national team of over 140 professionals, including 80 experts based in Canberra, you’ll be part of a high-performing group focused on securing and enabling government digital infrastructure at scale.
Reporting into the Director of the Cloud & Solutions Practice, this role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects for public sector clients. You’ll be part of a team that champions innovation, knowledge-sharing, and professional growth, all while contributing to Australia’s national cyber resilience.
Responsibilities
- Designing, building, and operating secure, scalable AWS environments including Landing Zones and Control Tower.
- Supporting cloud migration projects, including transitioning workloads to AWS or VMC on AWS.
- Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
- Implementing DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD toolchains.
- Managing containerized applications using Docker, ECS, and EKS.
- Contributing to hybrid and multi-cloud architecture and deployments.
- Scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate processes and improve efficiency.
- Working with both Unix and Windows workloads, ensuring reliable and secure operations.
- Supporting cloud networking, connectivity, and integration with VMware technologies.
- Applying best practices in cloud security, governance, and compliance for government environments.
Experience
- 4+ years of experience working with AWS in production environments.
- Deep knowledge of AWS architecture, Landing Zones, and Control Tower.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with DevSecOps tools and secure CI/CD processes.
- Strong background in Docker, ECS, and EKS for containerized applications.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
- Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Windows and Unix workloads in cloud settings.
- Sound understanding of networking and cloud connectivity principles.
- Exposure to VMware and/or VMware Cloud is a bonus.
- Clear understanding of cloud security concepts and secure cloud design.
Must haves!
- Must be an Australian Citizen (due to government client requirements).
- Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance preferred or the ability to obtain an AGSVA security clearance.
