About The Role

About the role - Senior Project Development Engineer

Reporting to the Project Development Team Manager, the Senior Project Development Engineer is the primary technical resource under our C&I portfolio and is responsible for supporting high value projects by delivering the technical solution development at the feasibility evaluation stage of the development process.

The project development engineering positions AGL at the forefront of the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) market segment by closely collaborating with the pre-sales, engineering and delivery teams and maintaining strong relationships through the sales process acting as the technical advisor and solution advocate in front of the customer for AGL’s energy solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Proactively scope and develop Engineering designs and cost estimates for technical solutions that apply to C&I applications– for solar PV, Battery storage, EV charging and Microgrids and variants.
  • Prepare detailed technical responses highlighting required solutions, engineering and integration aspects (basis of design) – including providing innovating solutions / or out of the box solutions with the goal of meeting decarbonization requirements of customers.
  • Technical and Commercial acumen: The ability to evaluate potential projects, design/development of technical solutions, detailing both to ensure they meet feasibility requirements (i.e. Considering accurate estimates and cost of project delivery).
  • Present proposed solutions to stakeholders and assist with negotiations from a technical perspective (i.e. design/electrical engineering view).
  • Ensure safety in design principles are utilized wherever engineering work may have a downstream impact on the safety of people, property or the environment.
  • Ensure contractor engagement is carried out in alignment with the AGL contractor management framework.


About You

  • Must have Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a solid track record in solar and battery storage or related engineering.
  • Demonstrated success in developing technical designs and accurate estimations for EPC (engineering procurement construction) projects, including engineering, equipment, civils, and mechanical installation.
  • Tenured experience as a project development engineer or project engineer in renewables or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed energy resource technologies and grid connection requirements (Solar, Battery Storage) and electrical power systems, including high voltage distribution.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to value engineer technical solutions and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Outstanding presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders and business partners.
