About The Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Australian Defence Force (ADF) uniforms meet the highest technical, quality, and compliance standards. You’ll lead the development of specifications, oversee the engineering lifecycle from tech pack to pre-production sample sign-off, and support the team with technical expertise across garments, trims, and product construction. With a deep understanding of technical standards and system processes, you’ll drive accuracy, efficiency, and innovation across engineering and product development workflows.

About The Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Australian Defence Force (ADF) uniforms meet the highest technical, quality, and compliance standards. You’ll lead the development of specifications, oversee the engineering lifecycle from tech pack to pre-production sample sign-off, and support the team with technical expertise across garments, trims, and product construction. With a deep understanding of technical standards and system processes, you’ll drive accuracy, efficiency, and innovation across engineering and product development workflows.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the development and delivery of accurate specifications from tech pack handover through to pre-production sample approval.
- Establish and maintain systems and processes required to support all engineering activities.
- Assign authority and support for configuration and engineering tasks across the team.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of tech packs and ensure correct trims selection to support manufacturing accuracy.
- Request and review development samples, assess quality, fit, and compliance, and ensure early intervention where required.
- Coordinate and participate in product fittings to ensure size, fit, and specification compliance.
- Conduct and support risk assessments, product testing, and resolution of quality issues.
- Represent WWG in Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and ensure technical accuracy and documentation control.
- Provide coaching and mentorship across the technical team, offering support on troubleshooting and best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, supporting the long-term strategy and critical path delivery.

You Will Ideally Have
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a technical and/or quality engineering role within apparel or textiles.
- Tertiary qualifications in Product Design, Garment Manufacturing, Engineering, or Apparel Development – or equivalent industry experience/apprenticeship (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of apparel construction, patterns, trims, and product development processes.
- Experience with EIA:632 and/or ISO 9001 compliance frameworks (desirable).
- Familiarity with PLM systems for product lifecycle management (desirable).
- Strong documentation and process orientation with a high level of accuracy.
- Connection with key industry bodies e.g. Chartered Engineering or Textile Institutions, Testing Facilities, Standards Australia and Australian Fashion Council (preferred).
- Skilled at project and time management in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
- Passion for technical excellence, mentoring others, and driving quality at every stage.
