About This Role

  • Permanent, Full Time

As an Academic Student Support Officer, your primary roles are but not limited to assisting students with their academic needs ranging from developing academic skills to academic communication requirements and processing Academic Misconduct cases according to AE policy and procedures. You will collaborate closely with your allocated program/Course Coordinators and teaching staff to address and fulfill the students’ academic needs such as providing workshops to students and classes about academic skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing student’s academic needs and devising learning plans to support them in achieving their study goals.
  • Providing workshops to students to enhance their awareness of academic integrity and to improve their academic skills.
  • Processing Academic Misconduct cases according to AE policy and procedures.
  • Attending Academic Support team meetings and reporting to the Academic Support Team Leader.
  • Being able to work individually and as a team member to achieve the Academic Support Team goals.
  • Monitoring ongoing educational progress of students-at-risk, collaborating with educators and staff including handling of student’s intervention plans.
  • Ensuring students meet the requirements outlined in their study plans by the due dates.
  • Referring students to relevant internal support services.
  • Providing data and metrics to the Academic Support Team Leader for required reporting regarding academic support services including face-to-face support, online support, workshops delivered and assessments of breaches of academic integrity.
  • Working with and assisting other Academic Support team members when needed.
  • Participating in the Academic Support Services quality improvement processes including responding to student and staff’s evaluation and feedback.
  • Adhering to all regulatory requirements as well as Acknowledge Education policies and procedures.

  • Strong prioritisation: Ability to effectively prioritise and manage your own time.
  • Diligent with compliance: Follow related policies and procedures when assisting students and process Academic Misconduct cases.
  • Innovation: Improve teaching methods through the use of technology or other strategies for engaging students.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrate teamwork skills and abilities, and willingness to contribute to academic administration.
  • Adaptability: Previous experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with students and staff
  • MS Office: Proficiency using Word, Power Point and Excel.

Other Desirable Qualities

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, Education or equivalent.
  • Relevant tertiary teaching experience or academic support with a track record of demonstrable teaching achievements and positive results.
  • Recent work practice experience and an understanding of theory and practice of teaching and learning and academic integrity.
  • Ability to learn quickly how to use learning and management tools and platforms such as Moodle, Mesh.
