Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated Leading Hand Linemarking to join our Civil Operations team. This hands-on supervisory role works under the limited direction of the Supervisor Roads & Drainage, overseeing a work team and ensuring the successful completion of scheduled maintenance and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate teams in road and drainage construction and maintenance projects.
- Assist with forward planning and service delivery reporting.
- Provide technical expertise in construction, maintenance, and repairs.
- Lead Workplace Health & Safety training and compliance.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment to high standards.
- Manage traffic control around work sites.
- Ensure excellent customer service and uphold Council’s reputation.
- Utilize technology for communication, data collection, and administration.
- Facilitate on-the-job training and knowledge sharing.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Sound experience in supervising small to medium size work teams.
- Well-developed experience in construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure with demonstrated experience in the maintenance and operation of a wide range of machinery.
- Sound computer operation skills with the ability to use Assets Management Systems, corporate systems, and Microsoft Office products.
- Certificate III in Civil Construction OR relevant experience.
- General Construction Safety ‘White’ Card.
- Traffic Management Implementation (TMI).
- QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
Desirable
- Certificate IV Civil Construction
- Current QLD Heavy Rigid Truck ‘HR’ Class Licence OR Plant Operation Certificate of Competency e.g., roller, loader, backhoe, grader.
